The latest trend and Danish word of the year for 2016 is “Hygge” referring to a lifestyle, broadly defined as anything that makes you feel content and comfortable. I liken it to “cocooning”, a term coined in 1981 by Faith Popcorn, trend forecaster and marketing consultant. It was defined as home-focused behaviour, people snug in their homes with their items of comfort. Knitting certainly falls into the category of comforting things. Purl Soho designed this Pivot Cowl in cashmere in honor of “Hygge”. Also check out “Bring The Hygge In”, knitting kits by Wool and the Gang including “Heart Breaker Shorts, Big Foot Socks, and Soul Power Pants”. But we knitters already know we are doing “the Hygge thing”.
